Thanks Richard, have you seen the Ferrari Chat forum??
http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ I had been offered the opportunity to visit Jim Glickenhaus and ride in his awesome Ferrari P4/P5 reworked Enzo, he also has 2 real 330 P4's which I was most interested in seeing, he has a 1967 Ford GT MK IV, the one driven by Bruce McLaren and the late great Mark Donohue, plus a Lola T-70 converted to a road going machine, plus he recently bought the Dino show car.
When I was a young lad in London I would attend the London Motor Show at Earls Court and often later the various Racing Car shows. I got to touch the still dirty fresh from it's Le Mans win in 1966, the MK II I have pictured is a replica built by Holman-Moody a few years ago.
Besides the great musical heritage I absorbed growing up in London, I also was able to attend some exciting motor racing that really set the scene for the rest of my life! I was at Brands Hatch in 1967 for my first motor race the BOAC 500, where Ferrari clinched their last Worlds SportsCar Championship, the #6 car came in second driven by Sir Jackie Stewart and the legendary Chris Amon.
I remember being in the paddock near one of the great P4's when it was started up, the sound of a thousand screaming banshees is on of the only descriptions I can use as the V-12 with that stack of open exhaust pipes.
Glorious!! I had loved racing as a younger boy before I left Connecticut in 1966 at age 11, but only has seen these cars in magazines, but to see and smell and hear these machines was a memory I will never forget.
Also my frequent visits down Ealing Broadway to Hanwell to Jim Marshall's legendary shop.
This was heady stuff to a young American boy born out in the country!.
Know you are busy look forward to your PM reply..
Here is a picture from the 1967 Le Mans race with the unfortunate Chris Amon car, that caught fire and was destroyed, it was signed by Chris and Jim Glickenhaus sent me a copy of the print he has:
One can see a long tailed Porsche at the Mulsanne corner, being dug out of he sand.
If any one has played the GT IV Playstation game with the old and new LeMans circuits, besides the Nordschliefe being my favorite, the old LeMans circuit without all the chicanes, is awesome.
The legendary Lorenzo Bandini at Monaco in 1967, before the senseless horrific fiery crash that claimed his life:
A later Ferrari F1, with the bundle of snakes exhaust, a symphonic work of art in metal"
One of the legendary BMW 4 cylinder turbo F1 qualifying motors that would have nearly 1200-1500 bhp!!
This is actually from one of Ayrton Senna's McLarens.
Here are the F40 LM pics I was looking for from a Japanese show:
