Pedal Tones
February 18, 2004 Lessons

This lesson is by Ryan Closs, a member of the Shredaholic forum (insomniac_ryan), and member

A pedal tone is the use of repetitive notes, here’s a little exercise that
I came up with a while ago that helps a lot. My friend put a cool little
rhythm to it.

——————————————–

—-9-10-9-7-9——-9—————–

(Pattern A)

(Pattern B)

————————————-7——

(Pattern C)

Pattern A-4x
Pattern B-1x

Pattern B-1x
Pattern C-1x

Then instead of starting on the E note on the A string (7th fret) you move up a fifth and play that same pattern on the B note on the D string (9th fret).

Then you move that up one octave to the B on the B string (12th fret) and then just repeat with variations and effects and tempos at your own will.
