Extended Alternate Picking Exercise

Tom KopytoThis lesson is an extended alternate picking exercise based on note groupings of 6. Usually a pattern of 6 is played as 8th note triplets (three notes to a beat) or 16th note triplets (6 notes to one beat) so that the pattern starts over every beat or every other beat. But in this exercise, the patterns of 6 is played using a 16th note rhythm (4 notes to one beat) meaning that only the first four notes of the pattern are played in the first beat while the remaining two notes continue to the second beat. The next pattern of 6 then begins on the upbeat of beat 2. The third 6 note group brings the idea back to the downbeat.
